Names

These are some of the ideas I have for the names of my magazine. I wanted a name that is a little bit different so would get the audience interested. I also wanted a feminine name. Looking at existing music magazines it is evident that the genre of the magazine doesn't have to be included in the name to make it obvious for the audience. Instead the images and the use of language can show the genre.

Pop Style: I like this as a name of magazine because it sounds similar to pop star, and using the word style will hopefully appeal to females who want to be seen as stylish and therefore purchase the magazine. It clearly shows the genre of the music magazine which is important for the audience. On a negative I feel this name may be seen to be appealing to the younger audience which I don't want.

Audire: Audire means listen in Latin, and although I don't expect the readers to know this, I still think this name sounds feminine and unique. I will have to make sure the front cover really shows that the music magazine is promoting pop music as the name Audire doesn't clearly show this.

Pop XS: I like this as a name of a pop music magazine as the 'XS' sounds like 'excess'. Using 'XS' in the title will make the magazine seem as if there is loads of content inside, something that the audience will want, this should then hopefully catch the readers eye. The problem with this name is that the use of 'XS' may be seen as a bit masculine but I if style the title with a feminine font and use of colours then I should hopefully make it clear that it is aimed at the female market.

AudioScene: I think this name is catchy but once again I don't think this name is really aimed at females. The word audio is a word that isn't used very often and because I am aiming this magazine at a young females I would like to use a more modern, punchy name for my magazine.

Pop *: I like this as a name as it is made to be seen as saying pop star. Although  I think it looks a little bit too young for my target audience, I wanted a sophisticated name for my magazine and I feel this will look a little bit too childish.

My favorite two names for my music magazine are 'Pop XS' and 'Audire' both I feel will work effectively on my front cover and within the magazine. I have asked a number of people on their preferred name for my pop magazine and from my audience feedback the most popular answered were the name for a new pop music magazine aimed the 16+ market was 'Audire'. It is for this reason that I have chosen to use 'Audire' as the name of my music magazine as I feel it is a modern, unique, eye catching name. I will have to ensure that the styling of the name shows the magazine is firstly for females and also that the genre of the magazine is a music magazine.
